<br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />REGULAR SEtU-MONTHLY MEETING OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF ELK RIVER <br />HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY OFFICE BLDG. <br /> <br />July 15, 1974 at 7:30 PM. <br /> <br />The Regular Semi-Monthly meeting of the Elk River City Council was called to order by <br />Mayor Lundberg on July 15, 1974 at 7:30 PM. in the Council Chambers of the City Office <br />Bldg. Members present were as follows: Mayor Lundberg, Councilmembers Cooper, Hudson, <br />Syring and Burke. <br /> <br />The minutes of the July 1, 1974 meeting were reviewed. The spelling of Jim Bredecks name <br />was corrected no further corrections the minutes were approved as printed. <br /> <br />Wilbur Daniels met with the Council regarding the progress of the Swimming Pool Project. <br />He also stated that Elaine Anderson and Tim Thompson were appointed to the Swimming <br />Pool Committee. It was suggested by the Committee that a financial consultant be <br />retained to help advise further on what other avenue would or are available. <br />The Council recommended that they contact Nason, Wehrman, Chapman Associates, Inc. of <br />Minneapolis. <br /> <br />Rex Oetinger, Zoning and Bldg. Inspector met with the Council regarding the progress of <br />the Teen Center in referrance to the exits. It will need a 1t hour fire door at the end <br />of the tunnel and a 1 hour fire door at the entrance to the tunnel. Also shatter proof <br />glass be placed on the Main enterance door. The installation of these improvements be <br />completed by August 5, 1974. <br /> <br />Bob Renolds met with the Council regarding boaters, skiers on Lake Orono also the boat <br />launching area for some regulations to control there lack of respect for the property <br />owners. The Council well investigate this matter to determine were the responsibilities. <br /> <br />Several employees of the Municipal Liquor met with the Council in protest to the action <br />taken by the City Council at the July 1, 1974 meeting regarding the dismissal of Jim <br />Thielke. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilmember Hudson and seconded by Councilmember Burke that they rehire Jim <br />Thielke in the Municipal Liquor store off sale department/ Mption unanimously carried <br />b;J- ~J~~-~ ~!~-:? ~ ,1 , , ,,7-7' ,cl ' /.. . , <br /> <br />Patrolman Mark Rieschl met with the Council regarding the burglar alarm system presently <br />being used by our Municipal Liquor Store. The Council will see to it that the system be <br />repaired and then have the digital tape dialer installed to it. <br /> <br />The Finance Committee will undertake further study regarding the street sweeper. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilmember Hudson and seconded by Councilmember Burke approving the first <br />payment of $5,162.40 warrant to Elview Construction Inc. for work done so far 6-12-74 on <br />the Library Bldg. project. Motion unanimously carried by a vote of 5-0. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilmember Syring and seconded by Councilmember Hudson approving the expendit- <br />ure in the amount of $250.00 from the Music Fund Account payable to Sherburne County <br />Fair Board for musical entertainment. Motion unanimously carried by a vote of 5-0. <br /> <br />The Improvements Committee will take the matter of parallel parking in the downtown area <br />under consideration. <br /> <br />Mayor Lundberg will contact the members of the Joint Park and Recreation Board regarding <br />the hirering of a life guard for Sundays only. <br />
