<br />o <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 24, 1978 at 8:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> <br />Acting Mayor otto, Councilmembers Toth and Duitsman. <br /> <br />Purpose of the special meeting was to get the community input on various <br />projects for the community which could be included in the application for <br />the Community Block Grant. <br /> <br />8:09 P.M. Acting Mayor declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br />Zack Johnson City Planner briefly reviewed the program and types of projects <br />that could qualify under this type of grant. <br /> <br />The City Council suggested that the repairing of the Dam at Lake Orono <br />should be one consideration. Approximate cost $470,000.00. <br /> <br />Gordon Fredricksen asked what the maxium dollar amount was that we could <br />apply for'~ Mr. Johnson stated: that the most we could apply for was <br />$600,000.00. <br /> <br />Mr. Rootes stated that he agreed with the City Council that the suggested <br />project of repairing of the Dam was a good sound recommendation. <br /> <br />Mr. Lucas also agreed with the Councils recommendation since the Elk River <br />Utilities still uses the dam for cooling purposes. <br /> <br />Gene Thompson stated: that he also agreed with the Council since there is <br />a possibility of other agency getting interested such as U.P.A. and D.N.R. <br /> <br />8:25 P.M. Acting Mayor Otto declared the public hearing on the Community <br />Block Grant closed. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:27 P.M. <br /> <br />
