MnAPA — Minnesota Chapter of the American Planning Association <br /> 111 <br /> 4Nip@eNseatcky 14I' 61$ $ustausati ity J t4Itf <br /> Local governments have been challenged to adopt sustainability plans by none other than the <br /> United Nations, at the 1992 Conference. on Environment and Development (the Rio <br /> Conference).Seattle,Portland,and San Francisco have been on the cutting edge of sustainability <br /> planning in the United States;and this session will summarize the work of Professors Laverny- <br /> Rafter and Bernhagen analyzing these efforts. The presentation will address the contents of the <br /> plans, their similarities and differences; the extent of neighborhood and public involvement in <br /> planning and implementation; and the impacts and "success" of the plans based on certain <br /> indicators. A number of suites are available for $145 a night. Rooms rates apply only <br /> through September 14, 1999.
