Brad Jones, the executive director for the Rochester Convention and Visitors Bureau, says <br />this is considered one of the best times of the year for local businesses. <br />Adveatsemenl <br />"It's a great week for Rochester, it's kind of sports week between Christmas and New Year <br />here," said Jones. <br />He also says the city has become a hub for sporting events and many, like the local hotels, <br />are cashing in. <br />0 <br />Kristine Ihrke, the director of sales for Centerstone Plaza Hotel says they have in between <br />250 and 350 additional guest stay with them throughout the week, "there are three major <br />tournaments happening this week. The Kiwanis Hockey Tournament, the Clash: National <br />High School Duals and also the Rotary basketball tournament." <br />"These 3 events with bring about 90 plus teams to Rochester, 1,400 athletes with their <br />families and it creates about $1 M in economic impact," said Jones. <br />The economic impact hits the restaurants as well. <br />Heidi Mensink, the general manager at Perkins south, says it could see up to 500 more <br />customers this week, "Being quite cold outside, you know that really helps us out because <br />some of our regular customers don't make it out." <br />"It's good for the businesses, it's good for the employees, it's good for the full community," <br />
