tJity of
lk River MEMORANDUM
TO: Steering Committee
FROM: Steven B. Ach, City Plannerl„_
DATE: July 27, 1995
SUBJECT: Agenda Memo
Thursday's meeting will be a continuation of discussion on residential
development in the community. The Steering Committee is asked to bring
their packet of information from the last meeting for reference purposes in
discussing the residential element. If anyone has misplaced the information
that was distributed at the last meeting, please contact me and I will make it
available upon your request.
I have included two new pieces of information in the Committee's packet.
The first is a residential inventory of all the plats that have been developed
• since 1989. This inventory includes total number of lots that were platted,
those lots that have been developed (i.e., building permit issued), and the last
column indicates the available lots. In addition, you will find that the
residential inventory is divided into zoning districts which gives a quick
overview of all the available lots according to each zoning district.
The second piece of information is a copy of the current goals and policies of
the residential element of the comprehensive plan. These goals and policies
should be reviewed and evaluated to determine if modifications or deletions
need to occur. In addition, the Committee may wish to consider some of the
following issues and suggest that they be incorporated into the goals and
policies:
• Disburse residential land use densities throughout the community to
provide a well-integrated mix of residential areas.
• Strive to achieve a proper mix of housing opportunities that will not
provide a negative fiscal impact on the City.
• Encourage creative subdivision design and site planning techniques to
strengthen the sense of community within neighborhoods.
•
13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
