Memo to Steering Committee Page 5
February 9, 1995
4110
• Design techniques should be used within residential developments to
enhance public safety protection for both fire and police.
• Multi-family developments should not be concentrated within certain
areas of the community.
• High density development should be located adjacent to or near minor
arterials or collector streets to reduce excessive amount of vehicular traffic
within low density residential areas.
• Development of owner-occupied housing for low and moderate income
households shall be encouraged.
• Investigate the appropriateness of housing maintenance codes to preserve
and enhance areas of the City that are experiencing an aging housing
stock.
• Development should be encouraged within areas that currently have
sewer and water and not require the premature extension of additional
infrastructure, such as sewers and roads.
II • Subdivisions of lands in the agricultural area should adhere to a density
of four units per forty acres.
• Creative subdivision design such as clustering shall be encouraged within
all parts of the community.
• Consider amending the zoning ordinance allowing more defined and
specific uses (i.e., separating single family, townhomes and multifamily
from one another).
•
s:steering:2-9memo
