ty of
1kRiver MEMORANDUM
TO: STEERING COMMITTEE
FROM: STEVEN B. ACH, CITY PLANNER..<0 _
DATE: AUGUST 25, 1994
SUBJECT: AGENDA ITEMS
The next set of meetings will consist of discussing residential development.
As outlined in the introductory meeting with the Steering Committee, the
City has been divided into four areas for the purposes of discussing
residential development. Each of the four areas have been created along
logical boundaries whereby common characteristics apply to each district.
The four districts are as follows:
1. North
• 2.
3. Southwest
Central
4. Southeast
These four planning areas are illustrated on the attached map included in
your packet.
The first area that will be discussed is the north planning area. Once
discussion on this residential area is completed, attention will then be
focused to the southwest area and move eastward through the central area
and finishing with the southeast planning area. The southeast area has been
left for last because it will involve the greatest amount of discussion
regarding the extension of City water and sewer into this area for future
urban development. City Engineer Terry Maurer will present the Steering
Committee at an upcoming meeting with a draft report outlining some of the
options for utility extensions.
INTRODUCTION OF NORTH PLANNING AREA
As mentioned above, each planning area has characteristics and issues that
allow it to be discussed independently of the others. The north planning area
• is different for the following reasons:
P.O. Box 490 • 13065 Orono Parkway • Elk River, MN 55330 • (612) 441-7420 • Fax: (612) 441-7425
