Motion carried 6-0. <br /> Vice-Chair Kallemeyn suggested that the Trails Master Plan be reviewed annually as it will change. <br /> Councilmember Olsen suggested setting priorities for the Trails Master Plan when presenting to <br /> City Council. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that the Trails Master Plan will be brought to City Council work session in the <br /> future. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek stated that the commission should do an annual review of Trails Master <br /> Plan before the Park Improvement Fund is completed. <br /> 5.3 Summer Festival <br /> Mr. Benoit presented his staff report. <br /> Commissioner Holmgren asked why July 7 was chosen for the date, sharing that the date may lend <br /> to smaller attendance and should consider the first weekend in August as there would be no sport • <br /> tournaments. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that is was the closest weekend day to July 4 to be able to utilize the fireworks <br /> and that the Police and Fire are okay with moving the fireworks to July 7. <br /> Commissioner Holmgren asked is this will be the annual date. <br /> Mr. Hecker stated that staff will discuss the annual date. <br /> Mr. Holmgren suggested the naming the event Elk River Fest. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Soltvedt and seconded by Commissioner Sagan to recommend <br /> to City Council to hold an Elk River community summer festival event on July,7,2018. <br /> Motion carried 6-0. <br /> 5.4 Pause Park Improvement Projects <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that staff would like to pause some upcoming Parks Improvement Fund <br /> projects which may be impacted by the Arena project that has been suspended by the City <br /> Council. Projects that may be impacted are Dave Anderson Athletic Complex (DAAC) <br /> scoreboards for$40,000 DAAC irrigation for$120,000 which$23,415 has already been spent to <br /> purchase materials and Oak Knoll lights for$125,000.
