Discussion was carried on <br />regarding tax increment financing, and the various requests that have come to <br />the City for tax increment financing. <br /> <br />It was the general consensus of the City Council that the City Council would <br />prefer to use tax increment financing for business development rather than <br />residential development. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council to use the Minnesota Housing Finance <br />Agency as a financing tool for residential development. <br />I <br /> <br />C. Downtown Redevelopment Meeting <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that a meeting was scheduled for the Downtown <br />Redevelopment committee Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. to continue the disc~ssion of <br />a downtown redevelopment program. The City Administrator indicated that the <br />City can issue revenue bonds on a small scale, which would be administered <br />by the bank to make money available for redevelopment. The City Administrator <br />indicated that there was a meeting of the Beautification Committee at Cretex <br />scheduled to discuss the base for the flagpole at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. <br /> <br />D. Light Towers <br /> <br />Discussion was carried on regarding the light towers that have been dismanteled <br />from the ball field. Councilmember Schuldt indicated that he has received <br />a request to purchase one of the light towers. The City Administrator in- <br />dicated that there may be a need by other communities that have lost a light <br />tower because of a storm. The City Street Superintendent indicated that he <br />felt there was approximately $100 to $200 worth of scrap value in the light <br />towers. General discussion was carried on regarding the possibility of <br />various individuals or communities interested in buying the light towers. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council to advertise the light towers for <br />sale in the Minnesota League of Cities Magazine, and to sell them if the price <br />was right. <br /> <br />21. Check Register <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL MOVED TO APPROVE THE AUGUST 20TH CHECK REGISTER. COUNCIL- <br />MEMBER ENGSTROM SECONDED THE MOTION. THE. MOTION PASSED 3-0. <br /> <br />22. Tentative Agenda <br /> <br />The CIP Public Hearing is tentatively scheduled for the August 27th City Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />There being no further business, COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL MOVED THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED. <br />COUNCILMEMBER ENGSTROM SECONDED THE MOTION.
