'S 3.1.-3.3. <br /> ( <br /> ty of <br /> lk • <br /> River <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Pat Klaers <br /> FROM: Stephen Wensman, Planner SN <br /> DATE: July A, 1998 <br /> SUBJECT: Trott Brook Farms Parks Proposal <br /> Attachments <br /> A) Park and Recreation Commission Minutes Summary <br /> B) Park and Recreation Minutes <br /> C) Trott Brook Trail Corridor Memo <br /> Overview <br /> • On March12, 1997, John Payton, Senior Associate with Westwood <br /> Professional Services and Homer Tompkins, met with the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission regarding park requirements for the then proposed <br /> 300 acre, 500-550 single family home and townhouse development (Trott <br /> Brook Farms). At that time the Commission requested the following: <br /> • 4-6 acres of park land of which 3 acres would be neighborhood park in the <br /> center of the plat and the remainder to the East of the plat to link to <br /> future park areas when the land to the East develops. <br /> • A trail system be established through the plat connecting the park areas <br /> and pedestrian routes. <br /> • The remaining dedication requirements be collected as cash. <br /> On May 14th, 1997, Steve Ach, City Planner, informed the Commission that a <br /> 4.2 acre park was being planned with 2.2 acres on the eastern edge of the <br /> development. The Commission requested more flat land in the park and <br /> requested the following amenities: a ballfield with backstop, tot lot, <br /> basketball hockey rink, sand volleyball court, and picnic shelter. The <br /> developers ask the Commission if all the park improvements were made "up <br /> front" by the developer, could a credit towards their park dedication be made <br /> • <br /> 13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
