They expressed an interest in
how development and the expansion of utilities will impact the schools,
traffic patterns, and the overall character of the City. It might be appropriate
for the Council and Planning Commission to discuss any specific concepts or
visions they may have regarding east Elk River and how development in that
area will connect with existing development.
Role of the Planning Commission
Given the new members on the Council and the Planning Commission, the
Commission felt is would be worthwhile to discuss the role of the Planning
Commission and the relationship between the Council and the Commission.
Attached is some background information from the Minnesota Planning
Association regarding the role of the planning commission.
Holding Additional Meetings
Because of the growth that Elk River is experiencing, the Commission felt it
might be beneficial to have an additional joint meeting. One option might be
to have a joint meeting at the beginning of the year and a second sometime
• during the summer.
13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
