One of the reasons we chose to live here was it has the security of being a dead-end street. We oppose any effort to change this. There is a wide variety and large amount of pedestrian traffic on Island View Drive. Some of them are walkers, joggers and runners, roller bladers (with and with out leashed dogs), skate boarders, bikers, trikers and skaters. Many are pushing strollers, IP walking with young walkers or helping beginning bikers. Pedestrians and bikers come from other neighborhoods to use our street. We have quite a bit of traffic on our street at this time and feel that any added traffic would greatly affect the safety of our pedestrians since this is a narrow street. We ask you please do not allow a street to connect Island View Drive and Belgin Acres. We are not opposed to the development of the vacant land. We do not want our street that is not designed for it to become a collector for another neighborhood. A neighborhood park in this area would not be used by the neighborhood because our lots are of such a size that we do things on our own land. An unused park can lead to vandalism, mischief and even illegal activities. We feel if the park were used, it would be used by those outside our neighborhood and further increase our traffic. We sincerely hope you will not force an unwanted connection on residents on each side of it and those who are developing the land. Thank you for considering our opinion in this matter.
