SERVICE AREA: '/ to'/2 mile radius SITE: '/A- 1 acre Neighborhood Park Area for intense recreational activities such as field games,court games,crafts,playground equipment, sliding hill,skating,neighborhood centers. . SERVICE AREA: %- I mile radius to serve a population of 1,000 SITE:2-4 Acres Recommended Size: 3 Acres ATTRIBUTES: Physiography suited for intense development LOCATION:Proximity to urban residential districts Community Park Area for intense recreational facilities such as play fields,beaches or swimming pools;could include neighborhood use. SERVICE AREA:City Wide SITE: 15-50 acres ATTRIBUTES: Physiography suited for intense development LOCATION: Centrally located for City-wide access Athletic Complex Area for multiple use athletic fields,tracks and stadiums. SERVICE AREA: City Wide SITE: 5-50 Acres ATTRIBUTES: Relatively flat topography suitable for athletic fields. LOCATION:Proximity to schools or other community resources. Area Wide Area of natural or ornamental quality for nature oriented outdoor recreation such as picnicking,boating, fishing,swimming,camping and trail uses. SERVICE AREA:City and surrounding area SITE: 50+acres ATTRIBUTES: Complete natural setting contiguous to water bodies or water courses where possible. LOCATION: Where natural resource occurs. Linear Park Area developed for one or more varying modes of recreational travel such as hiking,biking, snowmobiling,horseback riding,cross-country skiing,canoeing and driving. Sufficient width to provide maximum protection of resource and maximum use: sufficient length to accomplish purpose. SERVICE AREA: City wide SITE: Where linear resource occurs. Link recreation facilities and other community facilities. LOCATION: Utilize man made and/or natural linear resources such as utility corridors,rights- of-way,drainage ways,vegetation patterns and roads or abandoned railroad corridors. Historic Park Area that preserves,maintains,and interprets buildings,sites and objects of historical and archaeological significance. SITE: Sufficient area to encompass facility or resource ATTRIBUTES: Historically significant;represents broad cultural,political,economic,military or social history;associated with historical figure,architectural specimen,major archeological site,large enough to protect all significant resources. LOCATION: Where resource occurs;where event occurred. Conservancy Park Areas of wetlands,wildlife preserves,virgin timber forests,or other unique landscapes. SITE: Any Size ATTRIBUTES: Site to be preserved for present character. LOCATION: Where no facilities are presently intended. Special Use Area providing specialized or single purpose recreational activities such as golf course,nature center, marl:':. zoo,conservatory,arboretum,display gardens,arena,gun club,and downhill ski area. SITE: Specific standard applicable to desired use. ATTRIBUTES: Appropriate to particular special use. 75
