Memo to Planning Commission Page 4
April 17, 1995
Landscaping
Although the Cargill Animal Nutrition Center is isolated at this time, growth
is expected to occur in the surrounding area. In an effort to plan for the
future growth staff would recommend that if this proposal is approved a
condition should be added requiring that trees be planted along 165th
Avenue to act as a visual enhancement to the farm. I have discussed this
idea with Cargill and planting trees is in their future plans; therefore, they
are in agreement with the proposed condition.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the conditional use permit by Cargill to expand
their existing swine research capabilities and for their existing feedlot with
the following conditions:
1. That the applicant meet all the requirements as set forth in the
feedlot permit from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
2. That trees be planted along 165th Avenue near the security
fence to act as a visual enhancement to the farm site.
3. That the newly constructed buildings be painted to match the
. existing buildings.
•
cu95-05-planning/pc
