REGULAR MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE ELK RIVER PUBLIC LIBRARY MONDAY. JANUARY 27. 1986 MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Hinkle. Councilmembers Engstrom. Schuldt. Gunkel and Williams MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Tom Bublitz; City Administrator. Steve Rohlf; Building Inspector. and Lori Johnson; Finance Director 1. The Elk River City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Hinkle at 7:30 p.m. 2. Agenda Items 6D Seminar. 8A Survey. and 8B - Marv Dawson and Zoning Discussion were added to the agenda. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO APPROVE THE JANUARY 27. 1986 CITY COUNCIL AGINDA AS AMENDED. COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED 4-0. 3. Consideration of January 21. 1986 City Council Minutes COUNCILMEMBER GUNKEL MINUTES AS SUBMITTED . MOTION PASSED 4-0. MOVED TO APPROVE THE JANUARY 21. 1986 CITY COUNCIL COUNCILMEMBER WILLIAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. THE 4. Consideration of Building and Zoning Administrator Recruitment The City Administrator indicated that he had interviewed six candidates for the Building and Zoning Administrator position and was unable to recommend any of them for further consideration. He indicated he was aooking for someone with a fair amount of experience and found no one which he felt he could recommend for appointment. He indicated there was one candidate which did have the experience but was asking for more salary than the City could afford to pay. The City Administrator stated that Steve Rohlf has filled in since Rick Breezee's departure and has proved that he is capable of handling the duties of the position. He indicated he would like to see Steve Rohlf considered for the position. and stated he felt Steve had the potential to learn the job and be productive in the area of zoning. Steve Rohlf indicated he was hoping to get someone in the position he could learn something from. He stated it would be hard to work for someone who has no more qualifications than himself.
