Planning Commission Minutes <br /> : <br /> Annual Meeting,Jan.22, 1994 goe <br /> Commission's role in the capital improvement program be discussed and clarified o <br /> • at the February 7th meeting with the Mayor and City Council. <br /> The Commission reviewed their 1993 goals: <br /> 1. IMPROVE PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS. Bob Minton wrote an article for <br /> the City newsletter and a presentation was planned for high school seniors, <br /> however,that had to be canceled. <br /> 2. VISIT NEIGHBORING PLANNING COMMISSIONS. The goal was <br /> completed and will be ongoing for 1994. <br /> 3. AREA CONFERENCE. Commissioner Rita Johnson organized an <br /> outstanding conference last May focusing on legal issues in city planning. There <br /> was excellent participation from other communities. <br /> 4. TRAINING SESSIONS. Commissioners participated in different training <br /> opportunities: 2 attended the State Conference in Rochester last fall, 5 attended <br /> the Area Conference arranged by Rita Johnson, and 2 attended day-long training <br /> sessions in the metro area. <br /> 5. JOINT COUNCIL MEETINGS. Arranged two formal meetings with the <br /> • City Council. <br /> The Planning Commission established 1994 goals: <br /> 1. Complete the update of the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> 2. Continue to improve public communication. <br /> 3. Complete the ordinance reviews for Firearms, Home Occupations, and Zoning <br /> (particularly considering expanded use listed for C-3, C-2, and industrial). <br /> 4. Review and comment on the transportation study. <br /> 5. Continue to visit neighboring planning commissions. <br /> 6. Organize an Area Planning Conference again in May. <br /> 7. Continue to promote commissioner training (i.e., send 2 commissioners to the <br /> National Conference in April, 3 commissioners to the State Conference next fall, <br /> and other opportunities as can be arranged). <br /> • 8. Meet once with the Mayor and City Council in a workshop format independent <br /> of other City business. <br />
