<br />Page 5 <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />October 19. 1987 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />5.8.Determination of Use/Russ Marty <br /> <br />The Building <br />requesting a <br />5.000 gallon <br /> <br />and Zoning Administrator explained that Russ Marty is <br />determination of use in order to allow the placement of a <br />storage tank on his property to store molasses. <br /> <br />Duane Kropuenske. Planning Commission Representative. explained that the <br />Planning Commission recommended that this type of storage could be allowed <br />as an accessory use for Mr. Marty's feed store. He indicated that the <br />Planning Commission discussed the appearance of Mr. Marty's building and <br />the fact that it was to be cleaned up as per a previous Council decision. <br />Mr. Marty had indicated to the Planning Commission that he was in the <br />process of complying to the previous set of conditions set by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Discussion was held regarding the possible hazard <br />to the tank or someone let the molasses run out. <br />that the flow valve would be inside the building. <br /> <br />if vandalism were done <br />Mr. Kropuenske stated <br /> <br />City Administrator. Pat Klaers. stated that setbacks of the location of <br />the tank should be looked into. The Building and Zoning Administrator <br />indicated he would check the City Code regarding setbacks for the storage <br />tank. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City. Council to allow the 5.000 gallon storage <br />tank of molasses on Mr. Marty's property as an accessory use. <br /> <br />5.9.Determination of Use/Franklin Sign Company <br /> <br />Mayor Gunkel indicated that Mr. Franklin of Franklin Signs is requesting a <br />determination of use as to whether or not the signs referenced in the City <br />Ordinance. Section 900.22(c). are allowed in C-3B and C-4 zoned areas. <br /> <br />Planning Commission Representative Kropuenske stated that the Planning <br />Commission recommended that the use should not be determined until the <br />new sign ordinance is completed. <br /> <br />It was the cosensus of the City Council to not make a decision on the use <br />until such time that the new sign ordinance is completed. <br /> <br />5.10.Variance Request/Ronald Ray/Public Hearing <br /> <br />Mayor Gunkel explained that Mr. Ronald Ray is requesting a variance to the <br />side yard setback in an A-1 zone to accommodate a carport. and that Mr. <br />Ray is also requesting a 1.176 square foot variance on the 1.000 square <br />foot maximum size of an accessory building. <br /> <br />Steve Rohlf explained that Mr. Ray is proposing to attach a carport to <br />two existing garages. therefore. combining all three structures which <br />e would make a total of 2.176 square feet. <br />
