FEBRUARY 6. 1988 <br />ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gunk1e. Councilmembers Dobel. Holmgren. Schuldt. <br />and Tra11e <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Pat K1aers. City Administrator; Lori Johnson. Finance <br />Director; and Mike Mulrooney. Economic Development <br />Consultant <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />The Mayor indicated that the purpose of this special meeting is to interview <br />the three finalists for the Economic Development Coordinator Position. The <br />first interview is scheduled at 9:15 a.m. <br /> <br />Before this first interview. <br />Consultant possible interview <br />background of the applicants. <br />candidate for this position. <br /> <br />the Council discussed with the Staff and <br />questions. the format for the interviews. the <br />and when a decision should be made on a <br /> <br />Anne Norris. Community Development Director for the City of Ramsey. Minnesota. <br />was interviewed at 9:15 a.m. <br /> <br />Richard Fursman. Economic Development Director for Watonwan County was <br />interviewed at approximately 10:10 a.m. <br /> <br />Bill Coleman. Economic Development Representative. from the Minnesota <br />Department of Trade and Economic Development. was interviewed at approximately <br />11 : 15 a. m. <br /> <br />Following the three interviews the City Council. by themselves. discussed the <br />three applicants and the Staff and Consultant. by themselves. discussed the <br />applicants. These discussions took place in separate rooms. The Staff. <br />Consultant and City Council then reconvened together to discuss the three <br />applicants. It was the unanimous consensus of the Staff. Consultant. and City <br />Council that Mr. Richard Fursman best met the City's goals for this position. <br />Richard's background in working with smaller communities and experience in <br />grants. revolving loan programs and marketing fu11fi11ed the expectations of <br />the City Council for the type of individual desired to work with the City of <br />Elk River. <br /> <br />MOTION BY COUNCILMEMBER TRALLE TO DIRECT THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO OFFER MR. <br />RICHARD FURSMAN THE JOB OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR FOR THE CITY OF <br />ELK RIVER. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED <br />5-0. <br />
