Videos:
New videos have been created to highlight the city’s BR&E visits. Jake Pace, the city’s Cable
Coordinator, attends and videotapes various BR&E visits. The videos of Die Concepts, Classic Acrylics,
and Northwoods Machine are posted on the EDA website and on the city’s YouTube channel.

Sponsorships:
In 2017, the EDA sponsored the MN Real Estate Journal’s Energy and Data Center summits in partnership
with Elk River Municipal Utilities. The summits offered participation on the panels and an exhibit booth,
where the city’s Signature Packet, sell sheets, and a variety of swag was distributed. The city also
sponsored the annual MNCAR Realtor’s Expo. This event is a crucial event to participate in as it brings
developers and real estate professionals from around the state together in this very informal networking
event.

The Annual EDAM winter and summer conferences allow the city to have an exhibit table, where we
distributed swag and signature packets. This event allowed Amanda the opportunity to speak prior to the
award ceremony, on behalf of the city. Both events bring economic development professionals together
from around the state and offer a variety of relevant educational opportunities.

Trade Shows/Conferences:
Staff continued attending data center-focused conferences in partnership with Sherburne County and MN
Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The city participated in the MN
Delegation at Data World, IMN East, National Data Center Summit and the Critical Facilities
Conference which was held in Minneapolis. Several of the conferences lead to market visits with Fagon
Construction, PlanNet, CBRE, Deloitte, Pilewski and Associates, and Stanton Chase.

This year the performance measures set by the EDA focuses on personally connecting with developers,
marketing the city and gaining positive exposure for the city. During the first quarter of the year we have
advertised in three different trade industry publications. A new venture with Grey Duck Media allowed
the city to publish in The Growler magazine. The magazine is a free publication which is distributed at
various tab rooms and brew pubs around the Twin Cities. The city purchased a full color, ¼ page ad in
three concurrent editions. Staff has received inquiries from the ad.

In the first quarter, the city placed ¼ page ads in Site Selector magazine, Trade and Industry magazine and an
ad which was included in an advertorial in Expansion Solutions magazines. This venture also includes a lead
generation component. The city will once again be promoted via a ¼” full color ad in the MN Twins
yearbook and in a full color ad in the Tri-County Manufacturing Directory. These ads wrap up the
advertising activities for the city.

EDA/HRA Website:
New this year is the Lead Forensics program and an update to Economic Gateway 2.0, which offers an
updated look to the EDA/HRA landing page and the addition of “Powered by Business” video feature.
The videos will highlight several local businesses including Sportech, who will lead off this exciting new
endeavor. The video compilations will focus on and introduce community leaders and promote
businesses who make Elk River their home.

Trade shows:
We continue our partnership with Sherburne County, Greater MSP, and Minnesota Marketing
Partnership through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
