e e e City Council Minutes December 11, 1989 Page 2 Councilmember Schuldt stated that the City Administrator's November 21, memo mentions budgeting for flex benefits. Councilmember Schuldt indicated that he wanted it clear that flex benefits have not been authorized by the Council. Councilmember Schuldt further que$tioned why staff was recommending cutting $2,000 from the seal coating budget and $2,500 off of the Fire Department training program in order to balance the budget. Councilmember Schuldt indicated th~t the seal coating program and the Fire Department training were both' important and he would like to try to keep the money in those programsj. The City Administrator stated that he did not feel that cutting $2,000 from the seal coating Ptogram and $2,500 from the Fire Department training program would. effect either of these programs. He indicated that if the Ci ty didi end up running short of money in these programs at the end of the ~ear, they could use money from the Council Contingency to cover the shortfall. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TOj APPROVE A BALANCED GENERAL FUND BUDGET OF $2,417,150 FOR 1990. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 89-71, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FINAL TAX LEVY FOR CALENDAR YEAR 1990. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE! MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 5. Other Business The City Administrator updated the Council on the progress of the Orono Dam Bridge. He indicated that the City Engineer and staff are working to remove the bridge from t~e historical register. 6. Adjournment There being no further business, COUNCILMEMBER DOBEL MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
