Community Center Task Force Appointments <br /> <br />Mayor Tralle indicated that the City had requested names from several <br />groups and organizations wi thin the City for possible candidates to <br />serve on the Community Center Task Force. The Council reviewed the <br />names submitted and the following people were chosen to serve on the <br />Task Force: <br /> <br />Ministerial Representative: Dave Bosshardt <br />School District Representative: Dr. David Flannery <br />Arts Council Representative: Vicky Granross <br />Senior Representative: Bill Huntley <br />Chamber of Commerce Representative: Doug Johnson <br />Youth Teens Representative: Nikki Blomquist <br />Community Education Representative: Ellie Kretch <br />Citizens at Large Representative: Pat Rasmussen, Bill Pollard, and <br />Shane Groth <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council to invite the people chosen <br />to serve on the Task Force to the January 8, City Council meeting at <br />8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />10.1. Garba~e Ordinance Amendment <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the City currently has a <br />garbage collector license ordinance which relates to the licensing of <br />garbage haulers. He further indicated that the proposed ordinance <br />amendment will allow the City to license garbage collectors that are <br />hauling garbage to the RDF Plant and the Landf ill; not only those <br />which are collecting garbage within the City of Elk River. The City <br />Administrator further indicated that the City does not presently <br />license any of the garbage collectors, but that this may be done in <br />coordination with a recycling program. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schuldt stated his concern that the heavy fees going to <br />the garbage haulers will be passed on to the citizens. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmgren also questioned the license fee and stated he <br />does not want to see the Elk River haulers being taxed twice for a <br />license. <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the Elk River haulers will not <br />be charged twice. He further commented that the City's ordinance <br />currently allows for the licensing of garbage haulers although the <br />City has not implemented the ordinance. <br /> <br />~ <br />
