Community Center Task Force Appointments

Mayor Tralle indicated that the City had requested names from several
groups and organizations wi thin the City for possible candidates to
serve on the Community Center Task Force. The Council reviewed the
names submitted and the following people were chosen to serve on the
Task Force:

Ministerial Representative: Dave Bosshardt
School District Representative: Dr. David Flannery
Arts Council Representative: Vicky Granross
Senior Representative: Bill Huntley
Chamber of Commerce Representative: Doug Johnson
Youth Teens Representative: Nikki Blomquist
Community Education Representative: Ellie Kretch
Citizens at Large Representative: Pat Rasmussen, Bill Pollard, and
Shane Groth

It was the consensus of the City Council to invite the people chosen
to serve on the Task Force to the January 8, City Council meeting at
8:00 p.m.

10.1. Garba~e Ordinance Amendment

The City Administrator indicated that the City currently has a
garbage collector license ordinance which relates to the licensing of
garbage haulers. He further indicated that the proposed ordinance
amendment will allow the City to license garbage collectors that are
hauling garbage to the RDF Plant and the Landf ill; not only those
which are collecting garbage within the City of Elk River. The City
Administrator further indicated that the City does not presently
license any of the garbage collectors, but that this may be done in
coordination with a recycling program.

Councilmember Schuldt stated his concern that the heavy fees going to
the garbage haulers will be passed on to the citizens.

Councilmember Holmgren also questioned the license fee and stated he
does not want to see the Elk River haulers being taxed twice for a
license.

The City Administrator indicated that the Elk River haulers will not
be charged twice. He further commented that the City's ordinance
currently allows for the licensing of garbage haulers although the
City has not implemented the ordinance.

~
