<br />Page 6 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Joint City Council/Planning Commission Minutes <br />October 23. 1989 <br /> <br />appropriate manner. <br />representative of <br />Council on the <br />Council and to <br />wish the Planning <br /> <br />Commissioner Kimball suggested that a <br />the Planning Commission meet with the City <br />fourth Monday of the month to update the City <br />return any information which the City Council may <br />Commission to have. <br /> <br />Mayor Tra11e stated that he felt this would be a good way to <br />communicate. He further indicated that while he was on the <br />Planning Commission he spoke to several of the City Counci1members <br />on a personal level and stated that this would be another means of <br />communication between the Council and Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kimball indicated that the Planning Commission has <br />stated they are thankful to the City Council for their support and <br />also thankful that the City Council encourages and supports <br />training for the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Commissioner Kimball further stated that he felt the Planning <br />Commission works well together. He indicated that having a <br />Planning Commission representative at the fourth Monday Council <br />meeting of each month will serve as a tool in making the Planning <br />Commission a better group. Commissioner Kimball further thanked <br />the staff for the support and help they have given. Commissioner <br />Kimball explained that Commissioner Morton was absent due to <br />illness. <br /> <br />6.7. Role of Planning Commission <br /> <br />Mayor Tra11e commented on the fact that the Planning Commission has <br />taken a pro active role and stated that this was an advantage to <br />the City of Elk River. He indicated that the Planning Commission <br />researching areas such as cluster homes and licensing of rental <br />properties would be a benefit to the City staff and the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fuchs stated that he has been working on rules and <br />procedures for the Planning Commission. He stated that he had a <br />draft which will be going back to the Planning Commission for <br />changes and requested that after the Planning Commission review of <br />the rules and procedures. they be presented to the City Council at <br />a fourth Monday Council meeting. <br /> <br />6.8. City Zoning Ordinance <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Commissioner Kimball stated that the City of Elk River is in need <br />of an entire new zoning ordinance. He requested that a systematic <br />review of the ordinance be taken depending upon the money and time <br />available. Commissioner Kimball indicated that the City has a <br />attempted to make several ordinance amendments to the zoning <br />ordinance. however. it is just being pieced together and he <br />indicated that the ordinance should be looked at as a whole. <br />
