<br />Page 4 <br /> <br />City Council Minutes <br />Ocotber 2. 1989 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the budget memo which he sent out <br />about a week and a half ago shows in detail the budget process. He <br />indicated the legislative session has been held and the new tax law has <br />been approved. However. the City still does not know how much money they <br />will receive from the State and the City will not know this answer until <br />October 23. <br /> <br />Counci1member Schuldt indicated that because they do not know what public <br />comments will be received at the public hearing or what money will be <br />available from the State until the end of October. It would be in the <br />best interest to not discuss the budget at this time and that it may be <br />better to wait until the City has answers to these questions. <br /> <br />9. Check Register <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE <br /> <br />MOVED <br />SECONDED <br /> <br />TO APPROVE <br />THE MOTION. <br /> <br />THE CHECK REGI STER. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />10.1.Mayor Tra11e Update <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mayor Tra11e indicated that on October 12. at Vandenberg Junior High from <br />7:30 to 9:30 Governor Perpich and Commissioner Levine will be present to <br />take public tesimony on traffic safety issues. Mayor Tra11e urged City <br />Counci1members to speak at the public forum and also discussed ways in <br />which the City could inform residents of the meeting. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Council that the City send a Letter of <br />Invitation to Dr. Flannery and requesting that Dr. Flannery notify the <br />schools of this issue. <br /> <br />11.1.Community Survey Discussion <br /> <br />Pat K1aers indicated that the Park and Recreation Commission will meet <br />with the survey people on Tuesday. October 10. 1989. He stated that the <br />Commission is aware that this will be more than just a park and <br />recreation survey and that this is an opportunity raise other questions <br />concerning the City. The City Administrator requested the Council to <br />gather questions which they felt should be included in the survey. Some <br />of the questions the Council came up with were regarding a Community <br />Center. how people perceive City services. where the Community Center <br />should be located. where the next sewer and water project should be <br />located. and what is the most important need in the City. The City <br />Administrator suggested that the Council write down any comments they <br />feel should be included and they could review their questions at the <br />October 9. meeting. and possibly formulate a list to present to the Park <br />and Recreation Board. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The City Administrator distributed a letter from John Kuester of the 2001 <br />steering committee regarding the establishment of a City Community Center <br />Task Force. He indicated that the City has promised to form a Task Force <br />before the end of the year. Mr. K1aers indicated that the Council should <br />act on this in the near future. <br />
