Page 4 City Council Minutes Ocotber 2. 1989 e The City Administrator indicated that the budget memo which he sent out about a week and a half ago shows in detail the budget process. He indicated the legislative session has been held and the new tax law has been approved. However. the City still does not know how much money they will receive from the State and the City will not know this answer until October 23. Counci1member Schuldt indicated that because they do not know what public comments will be received at the public hearing or what money will be available from the State until the end of October. It would be in the best interest to not discuss the budget at this time and that it may be better to wait until the City has answers to these questions. 9. Check Register COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED SECONDED TO APPROVE THE MOTION. THE CHECK REGI STER. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 10.1.Mayor Tra11e Update e Mayor Tra11e indicated that on October 12. at Vandenberg Junior High from 7:30 to 9:30 Governor Perpich and Commissioner Levine will be present to take public tesimony on traffic safety issues. Mayor Tra11e urged City Counci1members to speak at the public forum and also discussed ways in which the City could inform residents of the meeting. It was the consensus of the Council that the City send a Letter of Invitation to Dr. Flannery and requesting that Dr. Flannery notify the schools of this issue. 11.1.Community Survey Discussion Pat K1aers indicated that the Park and Recreation Commission will meet with the survey people on Tuesday. October 10. 1989. He stated that the Commission is aware that this will be more than just a park and recreation survey and that this is an opportunity raise other questions concerning the City. The City Administrator requested the Council to gather questions which they felt should be included in the survey. Some of the questions the Council came up with were regarding a Community Center. how people perceive City services. where the Community Center should be located. where the next sewer and water project should be located. and what is the most important need in the City. The City Administrator suggested that the Council write down any comments they feel should be included and they could review their questions at the October 9. meeting. and possibly formulate a list to present to the Park and Recreation Board. e The City Administrator distributed a letter from John Kuester of the 2001 steering committee regarding the establishment of a City Community Center Task Force. He indicated that the City has promised to form a Task Force before the end of the year. Mr. K1aers indicated that the Council should act on this in the near future.
