Page 2 Board of Review Minutes May 10. 1989 -- 2. Ronald Wright - 75-488-0160 Mr. Wright indicated that he owned commercial property with a commercial building on the property. He stated his property was appraised at $61.700. Mr. Wright indicated that his land was appraised at $12.000 and stated that he paid $6.500 for the land. He further indicated that there are other commercial lots that front along the road which have just recently sold for $9.000. He stated that the total he spent on the lot and the building was $56.000 and felt that the building and lot were over appraised. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO LOWER THE MARKET VALUATION TO $59.000 AND INDICATED THAT THE VALUATION WAS BEING MARKED DOWN FROM THE BUILDING NOT THE LAND. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 3. Chuck Ragen - 75-408-0635 Mr. Ragen stated that he received a valuation for his property of $95.500 which was an increase of $6.100 from the previous year. He stated he felt the valuation was high due to the location of his home. He indicated that he lived next door to the Landmark Motel and because of this he would have problems selling his home. e The Council discussed the problems created by the Landmark Motel which consisted of the large number of occupants. noise. and the uncleanliness of the site. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT MOVED TO REDUCE THE VALUATION OF MR. RAGEN'S PROPERTY (75-408-0635) BY 10% RESULTING IN A PROPERTY VALUATION OF $86.000; AND TO REDUCE THE PROPERTY VALUATION OF MR. WILLIAM MCGREGOR'S PROPERTY. PARCEL iI (75-408-0625). BY 10% RESULTING IN A VALUATION OF $55.000. BECAUSE THIS PROPERTY IS LOCATED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOTEL; AND FURTHER THAT THE REDUCTIONS ARE BEING MADE BECAUSE OF THE NUISANCE FACTOR CREATED BY THE MOTEL. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0. Mayor Tralle indicated he would be contacting the Fire Marshal for an on- site inspection of the premise. He also stated that when the problem was corrected the assessment would be reinstated. 4. Jim Hudson - 75-401-0430 Mr. Hudson indicated that he just recently built a house on Gates Avenue and paid $78.000 for the home and land together. He stated that his home was valued at $87.100 by the County Assessor. He felt this appraised value was too high due to the fact that he spent $78.000 for the house and further because the location of the house is on a very busy street. It COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO ADJUST THE LAND VALUE DOWN $3,500 DUE TO THE TRAFFIC ON THE STREET. WHICH WOULD BRING THE TOTAL VALUATION OJ' THE PROPERTY TO $83.600. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0.
