City of Ell< River
2004 Annual Report

Council Chambers Improvements
During the City Hall remodeling project, the Council Chambers received a facelift. Part
of that facelift included new cameras and Smartboard technology. The Smartboard has
allowed the Planning staff to improve their presentations to the Planning Commission
and City Council, thereby improving the understanding of residents watching at home.
This technology has also been used with in-house staff for long-range planning and
brainstorming sessions.

LAND USE ApPLICATIONS
As in any year, the primary responsibility of the Planning staff is the review of land use
applications, including coordination of a citywide staff review. This citywide review
includes staff from the Building and Environmental, Engineering, Fire, Police, Streets,
Utilities and Wastewater departments.

In 2004, the department processed and reviewed 147 land use cases, up 17% from 2003:

Administrative Subdivisions 6
Conditional Use Permits 42

· Wal-Mart
· US Bank
· St. Andrews
Church/School
Expansion

· Pullman Place
· ABRA Auto Body Relocation

5
10
7
5
7
15

Easement Vacations
General Planning
Home Occupation
land Use Amendments
Ordinance Amendments
Preliminary Plats

· River Park
· Belmont Estates
· Windsor Meadows
· Prestigious Woodland Hills
