<br />e <br /> <br />CLOSED MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br />THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1991 <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Mayor Tralle (7:25 p.m.), Councilmembers Dietz, Holmgren, <br />Schuldt, Kropuenske (7:15 p.m.) <br /> <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Patrick Klaers, CitY,Administrator; Lori Johnson, Finance <br />Director; and Sandra Thackeray, City Clerk <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Kathleen Heaney, Sherburne County Attorney; and Ty <br />Bischoff, Sherburne County Assessor <br /> <br />Ty Bischoff informed the Council that a petition has been signed against <br />Sherburne County regarding the asses~ed valuation of property located in Elk <br />River. ' <br /> <br />The Council discussed the 1991 assessed commercial valuation and the effect <br />the reduction in valuation would have on the City, the County and the School <br />District. <br /> <br />tit Council member Holmgren indicated that he would abstain from any vote due to <br />a conflict of interest as he is an employee of the Sherburne County <br />Assessor's office. <br /> <br />Mayor Tralle indicated that it is appropriate for Sherburne County to <br />uti lize legal aid available from the City and the School District. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO AGREE TO SPEND UP TO $10,000 TO DEFEND THE <br />PETITION OF REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION. COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0-1. Councilmember Holmgren abstained. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ADJOURN THE CLOSED SESSION OF THE ELK RIVER <br />CITY COUNCIL. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED THE MOTION.
