Consider School ReQuest for Financial Assistance Rellardinll Municipal
Improvements to Proposed School Site

e

Lloyd Brutlag, representative of the School District, reviewed the
project and stated that the school would be able to pay about $275,000
of the project.

Pat Klaers, City Administrator, reviewed some options for payment with
the School District. He indicated that if the School District is
willing to pay the assessment up front, instead of over time the fiscal
and interest charges would be eliminated. Pat Klaers further indicated
that there is a possibility of the project coming in under the
estimated cost which would also save the school some money. Mayor
Tralle indicated that he has spoken with Elk River Utilities and they
have agreed to commit $25,000 to the water proj ect alone. Pat Klaers
stated that assuming the project comes in 10% under the estimated cost,
the Utilities pay $25,000 for the water project, and the school pays
for the project up front, the total assessable portion to the school
would be approximately $275,000 to $280,000. It was the consensus of
the Council that the City proceed with ordering the plans and
specifications so that bids can be received and, therefore, the School
District can determine whether or not the project is financially
feasible. Lloyd Brutlag indicated that he felt comfortable with the
proposal.

5.4.
