Staff Updates <br /> <br />Parking and Traffic Changes on Jackson Place <br /> <br />Pat K1aers stated that Phil Hals and the Police Chief have concerns <br />regarding Jackson Place parking. He stated that Phil Hals and Tom <br />Zerwas are recommending that Jackson Place be a one-way street <br />northbound with the diagonal parking being restriped for northbound <br />parking. They are also recommending that Jackson Square be resigned <br />and that a plan be developed to improve vehicle access, drainage, and <br />that the dead trees (Dutch Elm Disease) be removed to maximize parking <br />and that concrete curbing and new bituminous paving be installed in <br />early summer of 1993. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the recommended changes. It was the consensus of <br />the Council that this is not a final plan for Jackson Place, but that <br />it is a preliminary plan and that it would be in the best interest to <br />gain input from the downtown merchants and the Chamber of Commerce in <br />order to address their concerns prior to finalizing the Jackson Place <br />improvements. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO MAKE JACKSON PLACE A ONE-WAY STREET <br />NORTHBOUND AND TO REVERSE THE DIAGONAL PARKING FOR NORTHBOUND PARKING <br />AND FURTHER THAT SIGNAGE ON JACKSON PLACE BE INSTALLED AS RECOMMENDED <br />BY CITY STAFF. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />RDF Patrol <br /> <br />Councilmember Kropuenske requested that the Police patrol the RDF area <br />as trucks are accessing onto Highway 10 without stopping. <br /> <br />Alley <br /> <br />The City Administrator <br />process of working with <br />completed on the alley <br />identify the ownership of <br /> <br />informed the Council <br />the City Attorney to <br />in the downtown area <br />the property. <br /> <br />that <br />get <br />in <br /> <br />staff is in the <br />the title work <br />order to clearly <br /> <br />City Hall Facility/Colors <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the Council that staff is requesting to <br />use the services of Planning and Design Incorporated to help coordinate <br />the color scheme of the new City Hall/Police Station. He stated that <br />the cost would be approximately $1,000. After discussion by the <br />Council, it was the consensus to authorize staff to hire the services <br />of Planning and Design Inc.
