<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING OF ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br />WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 1992 <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Mayor Tralle, Councilmember Schuldt, Holmgren, Kropuenske, <br />and Dietz <br /> <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator; and Lori Johnson, <br />Finance Director <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Elk River City <br />Council was called to order 5:00 p.m. by Mayor Tralle. <br /> <br />Lori Johnson explained that the City had requested quotes for group health <br />insurance following notification of a rate increase from Medica for the <br />August 1, 1992, renewal. Quotes had been received through 10:30 a.m. on <br />Wednesday, July 29. Seven quotes were received; of those, five of the <br />quotes did not match existing benefits, several did not cover doctors in the <br />Elk River area and several required underwriting. Medica and Group Health <br />were the two quotes received which matched current benefits. The Medica <br />renewal rate for single was $171.05, and $521,81 for family. The Group <br />Health rates for single was $144.16, and $446.31 for family. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the options available and the employer and employee <br />payments for health insurance. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED THAT GROUP HEALTH BE AWARDED THE QUOTE FOR <br />INSURANCE COVERAGE AFFECTIVE AUGUST 1 AT THE SMOKE FREE <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />HEALTH <br />RATES. <br /> <br />There was discussion on sale of the City Hall property and the progress in <br />selling the property to UPA. <br /> <br />There being no further business, COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ADJOURN THE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION.
