Consider resolution awardina bids for the Western Area Phase II proiect City Engineer, Terry Maurer, indicated that the City received 11 bids for the Western Area Phase II project. He recommended that the Council award the bid to Barbarossa and Sons and to include a change order that eliminates the Sandpiper Estates from the project. This company was the lowest bidder at $1,958,884.47. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 94-90, A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT IN THE MATTER OF THE WESTERN AREA PHASE II IMPROVEMENT OF 1994 AND TO AUTHORIZE A CHANGE ORDER WHICH ELIMINATES SANDPIPER ESTATES FROM THE PROJECT. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 3.3. Consider application for exemption from lawful aamblina license by st. Andrew's School COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ALLOW AN EXEMPTION FROM LAWFUL GAMBLING LICENSE REQUESTED BY ST. ANDREW'S SCHOOL TO OPERATE BINGO ON OCTOBER 16, 1994. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 5.2. Update on Fire Chief Status . The City Administrator indicated that he met with Mr. Bruce West to discuss the terms of employment for the position of Fire Chief. The City Administrator recommended that the Council hire Mr. West according to the terms and conditions listed in the letter to Mr. West dated September 6, 1994. Discussion was held regarding the response time to a fire and the fact that Mr. West does not live in the City limits. Discussion was also held regarding the issue of when Mr. West will be required to move into the City. Councilmember Scheel indicated she had a problem with the beginning salary and the fact that Mr. West does not reside in the City.
