<br />Elk River City Council Minutes <br />March 20, 1995 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />-----------------....----------- <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />5.1 <br /> <br />Update on County Action Reaardina City Petition to Release Water into the <br />County Ditch System <br /> <br />Steve Rohlf, Building and Zoning Administrator informed the Council that the City <br />has received approval from the Sherburne County Board for the City to use the <br />County ditch system as an outlet for certain drainage projects. He indicated that <br />the use of these ditch systems will help to alleviate flooding problems at the <br />intersection of Main Str~et and Evans Avenue, and from the Barrington <br />Place/Royal Oaks area. <br /> <br />5.2 Updates on County Roads 12/13 Drainage Proiect <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer informed the Council that the County Road 12/13 <br />Drainage Improvement Project was bid approximately 9 months ago and has <br />been awarded to Dave Perkins Contracting. He indicated that the project was <br />put on hold until the petition of outletting into the County Ditch No. 10 was <br />received from the County. Terry Maurer stated that the County has recently <br />approved the outletting into County Ditch No. 10. Terry Maurer stated that the <br />Contractor has indicated that he will begin construction in late May to early <br />June. Terry Maurer further indicated that he will notify the homeowners regarding <br />the project. <br /> <br />5.3 <br /> <br />Consider Resolution Authorizina Plans and Specifications for the Main and Evans <br />Drainaae Proiect <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Terry Maurer. City Engineer, requested the Council to authorize the preparation of <br />plans and specifications for the Main Street and Evans Avenue intersection <br />drainage improvements. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 95-16, A RESOLUTION <br />ORDERING THE IMPROVEMENT AND PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />IN THE MANNER OF THE MAIN STREET/EVANS AVENUE INTERSECTION DRAINAGE <br />IMPROVEMENT OF 1995. COUNCIL MEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />5.4 Update on Elk Hills Drive/Dodae Avenue Information Meetina <br /> <br />City Engineer, Terry Maurer, reviewed the minutes of the 5th Street/Dodge <br />A venue/Elk Hills Drive information meeting, which was held on February 23. Terry <br />Maurer stated that the purpose of the meeting was to present information to <br />concerned parties and to receive information and comments back relative to <br />the thoughts about the proposed alternatives and the financing of the project. <br /> <br />Gary Santwire indicated that representatives of McDonald's and Circle C were <br />present and both have indicated they would be willing to move ahead with the <br />petition for the improvements. Gary Santwire further indicated that the property <br />owners would be willing to allow Dodge A venue to be regulated by a stop sign, <br />as in Plan 8, as this would solve the left turn problem. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council to authorize the City Engineer to proceed <br />with the plans and specifications with the exception of the intersection of Elk Hills <br />Drive and Dodge Avenue. <br />
