The City Administrator explained that there may come a point in
the future when the existing Northbound Liquor store may have to be relocated.
The City Administrator stated that he has had negotiation discussions with Mr.
Foster regarding the purchase of Lot 1, Block 1, Hillside Crossing for a potential
future liquor store site. He stated that Mr. Foster is asking $386,217.15 for the site.

Mayor Duitsman stated that he would prefer to see the funds used for this
purchase replenished if and when the original Northbound property is sold.

Council member Dietz indicated that purchasing this site is good protection for
the City in case there is a development on Highway 169 and Main Street resulting
in lost access to Northbound. He further indicated that the property would
appreciate in value.

Council member Scheel indicated she does not approve of the purchase. She
stated that the purchase cost was too much money for the taxpayers to spend
on a "possible" use. She further indicated that the City is taking a choice piece
of property off of the tax roll and did not feel thot the City should be in real estate
sales.

Councilmember Holmgren agreed with Mayor Duitsman and Councilmember
Dietz in that the City needs to protect itself with the purchase of this property.

e

Councilmember Farber indicated he would vote in favor of the purchase as he
also felt it would be good protection for the City.
