<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />It is each employee's responsibility to notifY the payroll department of changes. <br /> <br />GOVERNMENT DATA PRACTICES ACT <br /> <br />Numerous types of data are categorized as private, non-public, or confidential under the <br />Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. In many circumstances, data may not be disclosed <br />except with authorization of the subject of the data or pursuant to court order. To ensure that the <br />Minnesota Government Data Practices Act is not violated, employees are strictly prohibited from <br />disclosing to a third party, within or outside the City, any personnel data, data relating to pending <br />civil legal actions, or any other data that might be classified as private, non-public, or confidential, <br />without the City Administrator's express authorization. Pursuant to the Minnesota Government <br />Data Practices Act, the City Council appointed the City Administrator as the responsible authority <br />to administer the requirements for collection, storage, use, and dissemination of data on <br />individuals within the City. Refer to the City's Guidelines and Procedures for the Minnesota <br />Government Data Practices Act for additional information. <br /> <br />PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS <br /> <br />Performance appraisals are an opportunity for employees, supervisors, and the City to assess an <br />individual's job performance. The performance appraisal system is designed to: <br /> <br />· Ensure that quality services are provided to the public at the least possible cost~ <br />· Motivate and develop employees to their fullest potential~ <br />· ClarifY roles and mutual expectations of supervisors and employees~ <br />· Promote open and ongoing communication between employees at all levels, <br />including feedback from subordinates to supervisors~ and <br />· Assist in determination of whether employees are meeting the established <br />performance standards for their position. <br /> <br />Performance appraisal forms generally will be maintained in the employee's personnel file. <br /> <br />Employees may be evaluated formally or informally at any time. An employee's immediate <br />supervisor or department head normally will conduct a performance appraisal on an annual basis, <br />and may conduct performance appraisals more frequently if prescribed by the City Administrator <br />or the employee's department head. The performance appraisal usually will be in writing and <br />must be signed by the employee and supervisor. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br /> <br />Every City employee has an important role to play in maintaining a productive workplace. <br />Therefore, it is essential that all employees report to work as scheduled every day. Unsatisfactory <br />attendance, including reporting late to work and leaving work early, may result in disciplinary <br />action up to and including discharge. <br /> <br />6 <br />
