Notable items for the Water Department were the MnDOT Highway 10 Project,the filter for <br /> well#5,well #9 rehabilitation, and construction/renovation prep for the field services facilities. <br /> Chair Dietz had a question on what the $100,000 budgeted for facility repair was for. Staff <br /> indicated that this line item represents a cushion to be used for any unforeseen equipment or <br /> facility failures. Mr. Adams added that if we don't need it, we don't spend it. <br /> Staff presented the Administrative and Technical Services Capital Budgets. There was <br /> discussion on the two replacement vehicles included in the budget. Staff is still in the process <br /> of evaluating whether one of the vehicles purchased will be electric. <br /> Mr. Sagstetter presented the Conservation Improvement Program (CIP) Budget which included <br /> detailed information about the cost of the specific programs as well as the historic participation <br /> numbers; also included was a CIP summary sheet for reference. Mr. Sagstetter noted that his <br /> budget also included$139,500 for load management transition costs and explained what those <br /> funds would be used for. There was discussion on the transition from Great River Energy <br /> (GRE) and the rebate dollars we apply to receive back from them. Commissioner Stewart had a <br /> few questions on the detailed spreadsheet for the CIP budget. Staff responded. <br /> 6.0 BUSINESS DISCUSSION <br /> 6.1 Staff Updates <br /> Mr.Adams shared that the Wage&Benefits Committee(W&BC)set the date for the next W&BC <br /> meeting,which will be open to all employees,for October 10,2017 at 3:00 p.m. <br /> Mr.Fuchs shared that MMUA has been working to put together roughly 45 mutual aid crew <br /> members along with a variety of trucks to head to Kissimmee Florida in anticipation of storm <br /> recovery work that will be needed in the wake of Hurricane Irma.ERMU sent a crew of two <br /> lineworkers this past weekend in an effort to beat the storm expected to hit. Mr.Fuchs indicated that <br /> things are up in the air on how long our crew will be there and if we'll need to send in a relief crew <br /> if more help is needed.There was discussion. <br /> Mr. Sagstetter provided an update on the EV/ER Power Your Future Event and Ribbon Cutting <br /> Ceremony that is scheduled for September 13. He shared that there are approximately fifteen <br /> electric vehicle(EV)owners that are registered to attend the event with their vehicles and 7 people <br /> that have signed up in advance for test drives. Great Plains Institute will be in attendance and will <br /> be giving away complimentary Chinook Books to the first 50 attendees. Staff provided a logoed bag <br /> with the event giveaway to each of the Commissioners along with a logo t-shirt for those who <br /> planned to attend. Commissioner Stewart asked if the charging station had received any more use <br /> since last reported.
