<br />As plans progress on the development of the Northstar Commuter rail line, the Sherburne County
<br />Commissioners would welcome your participation in a discussion of options for funding our
<br />local share of capital costs. The projection at this point is for our share to be approximately $2.2
<br />million. dollars of the total ca.pital cost of $180 million. Land acquisition costs, station sites
<br />already owned by municipalities, infrastructure improvements in the works, and many other
<br />questions will effect the decisions on funding. Coordinating our local efforts will be essential.

<br />Also of interest is the need to look at our local ordinances, ~s well as the County's, to make sure
<br />we are protecting against scattered urban growth. The Federal Transportation Commission will
<br />consider our local controls as a part of the review for Federal funding.
