Attached is the
agenda packet for this meeting. Councilmember Paul Motin is our city
representative on the Board. Paul and Community Recreation Program
Manager Michele Bergh are both anticipated to be in attendance at the
October 18, 1999, City Council meeting to provide an update on current
Community Recreation activities.

.

One of the biggest activities going on with the Community Recreation
organization is the moving of the offices from the Community Education
office to the Emporium building. The "walls are going up" and such things as
new phones and computers are being coordinated. It is anticipated that
Michele and the department will move into Emporium somewhere around
mid to late November. Everything seems to be going relatively smoothly
with this building improvement project at Emporium.

Related to city recreation activities, Emporium is also one of the major topics.
A Halloween dance is scheduled Halloween weekend and attendance for
these events have been solid and the kids have been behaving appropriately.
There seems to be better respect for other businesses in the area and
comments from the supervisors on site have been positive.

We are entering into fall and winter and planning is now taking place for the
upcoming season. One of the highlights will be a fall hay ride in Otsego and
horse sleigh rides in and around Woodland Trails Park in December.

.

s: \ council \comrecud.doc
13065 Orono Parkway.
