Orono Park Master Plan Mr. Hecker presented the staff report. Mayor Dietz stated he felt an open recreation field and a ballfield are similar and didn't want to take away the ability to use a similar space for a ballfield. Mr. Hecker indicated the ballfield will eventually be relocated,most likely to the Youth Athletic Complex (YAC), although that has not been finalized. Mayor Dietz asked questions regarding the priority of the Parks Master Plan. Mr. Hecker stated after this plan has been approved, staff will develop an overall Capital Park Improvement Plan to determine the cost of these items. Councilmember Wagner asked why the open recreation field was proposed and not a ballfield. Mr. Hecker explained the reasoning and location for proposing an open space for large events and occasions for folks renting a shelter. Councilmember Wagner asked about parking space to support an open space area. Mr. Hecker stated the plan notes further parking needs will be addressed to accommodate large groups and tournaments. Councilmember Wagner complimented staff on identifying current trends and including those in the plan. Councilmember Olsen stated he was glad to see the DNR aquatic invasive species (AIS) stations included in the plan. Moved by Councilmember Olsen and seconded by Councilmember Ovall to approve the Orono Park Master Plan as outlined in the staff report. Motion carried 5-0. 8.2. Downtown Development NATUREJ
