Enclosed is an overview of patrol division staffing for the Elk River Police <br />Department. Several areas were examined to include our current schedule, <br />historical calls for service compared to number of patrol officers, hours of <br />training, days at minimum coverage, a proposed adjustment to staffing levels, and <br />hiring timelines. <br />Tab 1: Our current patrol division schedule is split into A (Day shifts), P <br />(Afternoon shifts), and B (Night shifts) and consists of a Patrol <br />Sergeant and three officers for both the A and B shifts. The P shift is <br />staffed by patrol officers only with supervisory overlap. <br />Tab 2: A historical look at Calls for Service in comparison to number of <br />officers in the patrol division dating back to 2003. <br />Tab 3: An evaluation of the number of training hours the patrol division <br />participated in for 2016 and 2017. <br />Tab 4: Outlines time off accrual including vacation, holiday hours, and <br />compensation time. <br />Tab 5: Illustrates the number of days per month the patrol division operates <br />at minimum staffing. <br />Tab 6: How staff increases would affect the 2018 schedule. <br />Tab 7: Month by month description, with timelines, of the police <br />department hiring process. <br />Tab 8: Historical overtime usage. <br />
