Authorization for Police Department to Hire Police Officer <br /> <br />Chief Zerwas requested authorization to make a conditional offer of employment <br />to Todd Besser as police officer for the City of Elk River. He indicated that this <br />officer would be replacing Dave Olson, who is no longer working for the City. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE POLICE CHIEF TO MAKE A <br />CONDITIONAL OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT TO TODD BESSER AS POLICE OFFICER FOR <br />THE CITY OF ELK RIVER CONTINGENT UPON HIM PASSING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL AND <br />MEDICAL EXAMS, AND TO DEFER THE DISCUSSION ON A COPS FAST OFFICER UNTIL <br />THE BUDGET DISCUSSION THAT WILL BE HELD BY THE COUNCIL AND STAFF ON <br />AUGUST 30TH. COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />6. Other Business <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />6.1. Council member Farber discussed the issue of Steve Rohlf, Building and <br />Zoning Administrator, applying for a position with Sherburne County. <br />Council member Farber indicated that Steve is a valuable employee to <br />the City, as he performs many duties including environmental. He stated <br />that he believes Steve is behind in salary and suggested that he complete <br />a position profile to re-determine his point ranking and salary range. <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing recommended that she and Council member Farber talk to <br />Steve Rohlf regarding his reasons and desire to apply for the position with <br />Sherburne County. It was the consensus of the City Council to have the <br />Comp Worth Committee begin the process for Steve Rohlf to complete a <br />position profile regarding his job duties and point ranking. <br /> <br />7. Staff Updates <br /> <br />7.1. The City Clerk noted that there were two corrections on the August 16, <br />1999, minutes. Item 3.3. should read as follows: CONSIDER SENIOR CITIZEN <br />SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DEFERRAL REQUESTED BY JOSEPHINE KOONTZ FOR THE <br />1998 STREET OVERLAY PROJECT ON PARCEL 75-460-0160 -- APPROVED <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN MOVED TO APPROVE THE AUGUST 16,1999, CITY <br />COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES AS AMENDED. COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />8.
