Planning staff has been inspecting conditional
use permits that have been approved over the past several years. After
inspections, permit holders are notified by letter of compliance deficiencies
and encouraged to meet with staff to discuss the issues. When compliance is
has been met, the permit holders are notified by letter and thanked for
compliance. Permit holders have two years to fulfill the conditions of their
permit.

Results

Generally, staff has found that most permit holders comply with the
conditions approved by the Council or do so if notified that they are in
noncompliance. Staff has also found that the more timely the inspection and
the more recent the conditional use permit approval, the more cooperation
and compliance with conditions are likely. Typical noncompliance includes
incomplete landscaping or minor site changes have been made that differ
from the approved plans. There are several permit holders who are in
noncompliance and appear to be uncooperative. In the future, staff hopes to
improve compliance with more timely inspections and possibly by
withholding sureties or by requiring performance bonds.

Attachments

. .
