AD PXPERIENCE... <br />@NEED A HIGH SCHOOL DANA? <br />The Elk River Learning Lab now offers 3 Adult Secondary Credential <br />Options. <br />b Which option is right for you? <br />b Is there an option that is better than the others? <br />n How long will it take? <br />Schedule an intake appointment with a staff member of the Elk River <br />Learning Lab to answer these questions and determine the route best <br />for you. <br />► GED <br />The four tests in the GED battery measure academic competencies <br />similar to those required of a Minnesota high school graduate. The <br />State of Minnesota GED® Diploma cannot be earned or obtained on <br />the Internet or through correspondence programs. To take the official <br />tests, you must be 19 years of age or older and have a valid, current <br />government -issued photo ID. If you are 17 or 18 years old and are not <br />currently enrolled in high school, we can apply for your age waiver that <br />allows you to take the official GED tests. The cost per subject area <br />of the GED is $30, but for a limited time the exams are being offered <br />at no cost to Minnesota residents. Official practice tests are $6 each. <br />The Elk River Learning Lab will proctor the practice tests, provide <br />instruction to help you prepare for the exam, including distance learning <br />opportunities, help you develop a study plan, and guide you through the <br />process of registering for the official exams to be taken at an approved <br />testing site. <br />)►CREDIT RECOVERY DIPLOMA <br />Credit recovery diploma is available to qualifying adults age 18 and <br />older. In credit recovery, coursework for missing credits is completed <br />in an independent study program or in small groups. High school <br />transcripts will be evaluated to determine which credits and coursework <br />is needed. <br />00- STATE STANDARD ADULT HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA <br />The 2014 Minnesota legislative session approved a third option for <br />adults needing a secondary credential. This new state standard adult <br />high school diploma is competency -based, aligning to Minnesota's <br />current K-12 graduation standards and embeds: <br />n College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) forAdult <br />Education <br />n Academic, Career and Employability Skills (ACES) Transitions <br />Integration Framework <br />D Northstar Digital Literacy Standards <br />The Minnesota State Adult Diploma Competency Domains include: <br />n English Language Arts <br />A Mathematics <br />n Career Development and Employability Skills, including Digital <br />Literacy Skills <br />h Social Studies <br />• Science <br />@IMPROVE BASIC SKILLS <br />Adult Basic Education (ABE) is for learners who need goal -specific <br />basic skills such as brush -up in math, reading, or writing and basic <br />technology skills. <br />» Accuplacer and College Prep <br />b Returning to the workforce or changing careers <br />» Helping children with homework <br />• ASVAB preparation <br />• Keyboarding and Computer Basics <br />............................................................................... <br />ISD 728 COMMUNITY EDUCATION 1 763.241.3520 1 www.728communityed.com O O Yrs <br />
