<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br />TOWN OF ELK RIVER <br />March 9, 1909 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes of the Proceedings of The Annual Town Meeting at the Annual Town Meeting held in the <br />Town of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota at the Phoenix Hall in the <br />Villige \[sic\] of Elk River on the 9th day of March 1909. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by A.H. Keen, Town Clerk. A.W. Tourtillott was then chosen as <br />Moderator of the Meeting. <br /> <br />The Moderator at the opening of the Meeting stated the business to be transacted and the order of <br />the same as follows: to elect 2 Supervisors, to wit: one for the term of 3 years, one for the term of <br />one year; one Town Clerk, one Treasurer, one Assessor, two Justices of the Peas \[sic\], two <br />Constable; and to do any other business proper to be done at said meeting. <br /> <br />st <br />That said business would be entertained in the following order: 1, the election by ballot of Town <br />nd <br />Officers; 2, at one o’clock P.M., the business meeting of the Town would be held. Proclamation of <br />opening of the polls was then made by the Moderator, and the polls opened and the election of <br />Town Officers proceeded. <br /> <br />\[At\] 2 o’clock P.M. the Town Clerk read publick \[sic\] the report of the Board of Auditors including a <br />Statement of the fiscal concerns of the Town and an estimate of the sums necessary for the current <br />and incidental expenses of the Town for the ensuing year. <br /> <br />On motion it was ordered that the following sums of money be raised by tax upon taxable property <br />in said Town for the following purposes for the current year: <br /> <br />For General Township purposes $150.00 <br />For Road and Bridge $1,000.00 <br /> <br />It was then on motion resolved that the compensation of Town Officers elected at this meeting shall <br />be Two Dollars per day. <br /> <br />Proclamation of the polls was then made by the Moderator, and the polls opened and the election of <br />Town Officers proceeded.* <br /> <br />At five o’clock the polls wer \[sic\] closed, proclamation thereof being mad \[sic\] by the Moderator. <br />The Judges then proceeded to publicly canvass the votes, and the persons having the greatest <br />number of votes for the respective offices voted for wer \[sic\] declared elected. <br /> <br />Gust Sund recd 25 votes for Supervisor for 1 year. <br />Gust Sund was declared elected Supervisor for 1 year. <br /> <br />
