<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />Minutes of Village Election <br />January 13, 1903 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />At the annual election of the village of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and in the State of <br />Minnesota, held at Baldowsky’s tailor shop as appointed by council, after giving due notice thereof <br />as provided by law, on the 13th day of Dec. 1902. <br /> <br />N.D. Trumbull and E.W. Johnson, two qualified voters of said village who had within 20 days <br />before said election been appointed as judges of such election, and being present with Recorder as <br />clerk of election at the hour of one o’clock P.M.; each of them took an oath to faithfully discharge <br />the duties required of them at such election, and being qualified forthwith opened the polls by <br />proclamation, and the election proceeded without interruption by ballot until closed. <br /> <br />The subjects voted on at the election were to select: one President, three Trustees, one Treasurer, <br />one Recorder, one Justice of the Peace, and one Constable. <br /> <br />At four o’clock on said afternoon, the polls were closed, proclamation of such closing having been <br />made by one of the Judges of election ten minutes previous thereto. The Judges then proceeded to <br />publicly count and canvass the votes, and the following result was publicly proclaimed by one of the <br />Judges. <br /> <br />Statement of Result of Canvass <br /> <br />The following is a true statement of the result of the counting and canvass by ballot of the annual <br />village election of the village of Elk River, county of Sherburne and state of Minnesota held <br />th <br />Jan. 13, 1903. <br /> <br />C.Q. Scoborio rec’d 33 votes for President and was declared elected. <br /> <br />A.A. Opitz rec’d 33 votes for Trustee and was declared elected. <br />James McBride rec’d 33 votes for Trustee and was declared elected. <br /> <br />Perry Clute rec’d 16 votes for Trustee. <br />W.P. Rhoda rec’d 16 votes for Trustee. <br /> Being a tie vote between Clute and Rhoda, the judges proceeded by lot to select one of them. <br /> The lot fell to Clute, and he was declared elected. <br /> <br />H.B. Nickerson rec’d 33 votes for Recorder and was decl. elected. <br /> <br />A. Davis recd. 20 votes for Treas. <br />J. DeBooy recd. 13 votes for Treas. <br /> Davis was declared elected. <br /> <br />
