<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />Minutes of Village Election <br />January 8, 1901 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />At the annual Village Election of the Village of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and State of <br />Minnesota, held at the Recorder’s office, being the place where it was directed to be, the Village <br />Council after giving due notice thereof as provided by law, on the 8th day of January 1901. <br /> <br />J.S. Guerney and W.F. Chadbourne, two qualified voters of said Village who had within twenty days <br />before such time been designated and appointed by the Village Council to act as Judges of such <br />Election, who being present with the Recorder as Clerk of Election at the hour of one o’clock P.M.; <br />each of them duly took and subscribed an oath to faithfully discharge the duties required of them at <br />such election, and the Judges and Clerk being duly qualified forthwith opened the polls by <br />proclamation and the election proceeded by ballot without adjournment or intermission until closed. <br /> <br />The subjects voted on at such election as stated in the notice thereof were to elect: one President, <br />three Councilmen, one Recorder, one Treasurer, and one Justice of the Peace. <br /> <br />At 4 o’clock in the afternoon of said day, the polls were closed, proclamation thereof having been <br />made by one of the Judges thirty minutes previous thereto. <br /> <br />The Judges then proceeded to count and canvass the votes, and a true statement thereof was <br />proclaimed to the voters by some one of the Judges of Election. <br /> <br />Statement of Result of Canvass <br /> <br />The following is a true statement of the result of the counting and canvass by ballot at the Annual <br />Village Election of the Village of Elk River, County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota, held <br />January 8, 1901, as proclaimed to the voters by some one of the Judges of Election. <br /> <br />F.S. Waterman recd. 25 votes for Pres. of Council. <br />A.N. Dare recd. 56 votes for Pres. of Council. <br /> A.N. Dare was declared elected President. <br /> <br />C.M. Babcock recd. 27 votes for Councilman. <br />Wm. Iliff recd. 24 votes for Councilman. <br />Chas. Blocker recd. 24 votes for Councilman. <br />C.S. Wheaton recd. 54 votes for Councilman. <br />J.S. Guerney recd. 57 votes for Councilman. <br />H. Castle recd. 57 votes for Councilman. <br /> C.S. Wheaton was declared elected Councilman. <br /> J.S. Guerney was declared elected Councilman. <br /> H. Castle was declared elected Councilman. <br /> <br /> <br />
