Comments
While we agree that some rules should be put in place to ensure animals are not being neglected or causing extreme
disturbance, this seems to be way too much. Instead of burdening our administration and police department with
enforcing tight regulation on chickens - this time and effort could be focused on more important issues.
What would George Washington do?
Must have written notarized permission from neighbors allowing chickens. My neighbors had illegal chickens for 2
years and I notified city several times due to myself getting a citation for THEIR chickens not being contained and
wandering into my yard of my home daycare. The 'male city contact' in charge of the complaints did NOTHING
about the illegal chickens. Neighbors finally were told to get rid of them in Feb of 2017 when a second neighbor
complained.
I want some clarification of this. I'm on 5 acres west of the golf course. I'm afraid this ordinance is going to ban
roosters and corner me into only have 12 chickens. Also, if that is going to happen it basically says I can't let me
chickens out of the run- and that absurd when I'm on 5 acres.
K-eep them out of the neighborhoods.
I strongly disagree with allowing any chickens on property's under 2.5 acres. Do not ruin our neighborhood and
outdoor enjoyment by allowing this. People can't even seem to take care their dogs, and dog urine and feces, let
alone allowing additional animals. I pay very large property taxes to live in this kind of neighborhood and that
would be ridiculous to be burdened with neighbors' live hobbies. I can't disagree more with allowing chickens!!!!!
Chickens should not be allowed in residential areas. I don't want to look at any in closure with chickens. Also, the
screened in areas that hold the chickens tend to be an eye sore, may smell and attract unwanted animals into the
neighborhood.
This would be a great experience for kids who live in the City. What about the impact of outdoor cats on the wild
bird population or the mess that dogs leave? A well -kept group of chickens is pretty quiet and provides a direct
food benefit as well as an opportunity for kids to learn.
What about other foul that people are putting in chicken coops, such as large pigeons?
Page 15
