<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />Minutes of the Proceedings of the Chapter Election the Village of Elk River <br />th <br />held on the 14 day of January A.D. 1896 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Chas S. Wheaton, President of said Village, and J.F. Lewis, Trustee of said Village, subscribed the <br />oath of office to serve as Judges of said Election. <br /> <br />Andrew Davis, Recorder of said Village, subscribed the oath of office to serve as Clerk of said <br />Election. <br /> <br />Proclamation of the opening of the polls was made by Chas S. Wheaton, one of the Judges, at one <br />(1) o’clock P.M., and the election of officers proceeded. <br /> <br />At four (4) o’clock P.M., the polls were closed by proclamation of Chas. S. Wheaton, one of the <br />Judges. <br /> <br />The Judges then proceeded to publicly canvass the votes, and the persons having the greatest <br />number of votes for the respective offices voted for, were declared elected. <br /> <br />The following is a statement of the result of the canvass of votes by ballot for the election of <br />officers as publicly canvassed by the Judges, viz.: <br /> <br />Chas. S. Wheaton had 17 votes for President. <br />Chas. S. Wheaton was declared elected President. <br /> <br />J.F. Lewis had 17 votes for Trustee. <br />J.F. Lewis was declared elected Trustee. <br /> <br />Fred Hildreth had 17 votes for Trustee. <br />Fred Hildreth was declared elected Trustee. <br /> <br />A. Bailey had 17 votes for Trustee. <br />A. Bailey was declared elected Trustee. <br /> <br />Andrew Davis had 17 votes for Recorder. <br />Andrew Davis was declared elected Recorder. <br /> <br />Henry Castle had 17 votes for Treasurer. <br />Henry Castle was declared elected Treasurer. <br /> <br />J.H. Williams had 16 votes for Justice of the Peace. <br />J.H. Williams was declared elected Justice of the Peace. <br /> <br />W.W. Health had 15 votes for Constable. <br /> <br />
