Insloped Turn
1. Orientation of the insloped turn should be like that of a climbing turn: The upper and lower
legs run along the contour, with the trail turning quickly and evenly through the fall line. By
building the insloped portion of the turn on the fall line, water is not trapped or otherwise
impeded as it flows downhill. An insloped turn should include a choke point and a grade
reversal on the upper leg of the turn. The choke point will help to slow user speed, and the
grade reversal will divert water off the tread before it hits the fall-line portion of the turn,
where it is likely to do the most damage.
2. The radius of an insloped turn should range between 10 and 15 feet, enabling the rider to
move through the turn without a significant change in speed.
