Sherburne Wright Cable Commission
Equipment and Technology Report
April 6th,2017
Playback System Upgrades
We have started making the changes to the playback systems in Elk River, Delano, Buffalo and
SWTV. Elk River has had the most significant changes so far and they change over to the new
Leightronix Nexus HD system is proceeding in all the cities on schedule.
Elk River Water Damage
Elk River's City Hall had a fire suppression system water pipe break this winter. It happened on a
weekend and a significant amount of water entered the building flooding the city cable TV
production offices, the council chambers control room and playback head end. The break
occurred in the ceiling of the Park and Recreation offices.
We assisted the city with securing and moving equipment. Much of the equipment had to be
moved from the editing room. We setup temporary editing facilities in another part of the
building so that Elk River staff could continue their work.
We checked all of the equipment in the playback head end and in the control room. Some of it
had to be temporarily relocated as the walls needed to be replaced in those areas. Once the
structural repairs were completed we assisted city staff in moving the equipment back into place,
rewiring and testing it.
Maple Lake St. Patrick's Day Parade
We did our first parade shoot on March 11th in Maple Lake for the St.Patrick's Day parade.
Overall the shoot went well. It was colder than we would have liked but we had great help from
the city and our volunteers. There were around 120 entrants in the parade. As usual we shared it
live on Maple Lake city channel 180.
1
