City of <br /> Elk <br /> River <br /> Proclamation <br /> Designating April 5, 2017, as <br /> Elk River Girls' Basketball State Championship Day in the City of Elk <br /> River <br /> WHEREAS,the 2016-17 Elk River High School girls'basketball team won the Northwest <br /> Suburban Conference championship; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2016-17 Elks girls'basketball team won the Section 8AAAA championship; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2016-17 Elks girls'basketball team won the Minnesota State High School League <br /> Class 4A state championship; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2016-17 Elks girls'basketball team became the first team in school history to <br /> finish with an undefeated season,going 32-0; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Elks celebrated the 1251h day of the 2016-17 season by defeating Hopkins to win <br /> the Class 4A state championship; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Elks showed tremendous class and sportsmanship on and off the court; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Elks are not only outstanding athletes but outstanding students as well; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Elks brought tremendous community pride and created a positive image for the <br /> City of Elk River; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I,John J. Dietz,Mayor of Elk River,hereby <br /> proclaim Wednesday,April 5, 2017, as Elk River Girls' Basketball State Championship Day in the <br /> City of Elk River. <br /> John J.
