Notes and Observations
On 9/27/16 at 11:20 am, the discharge of the leachate
(1)
hose was moved into the effluent channel of the grit
chamber. Previously, it was in the influent channel.
Pump calibration was checked at 2:00 pm on 9/27/16. The
(2)
calibration data was updated and the total gallons pumped
was updated for the updated pump flow
(3)
Tanks were approximately half full based on visual
inspection
Flow rate was increased to 12.9 gpm at 9:30 am on
(4)
September 28, 2016. The VFD was set at 40 Hz. Pump
calibration was repeated in triplicate.
Tank levels were checked at 11:00 am by measuring
(5)
leachate depth in tank. The calibration chart is posted on
the side of the South tank.
Tank levels were checked at 4:00 PM by measuring
leachate depth in tank. North tank had 34" (5,700 gal) and
(6)
the South tank had 36" (6,100 gal) for a total of 11,800
gallons. Waste management will not be here to fill the
tanks until the morning of 9/29/16.
Rice Lake Construction shut the pump off at 7:00 am
because the tanks were dry. First load of leachate was
(7)
delivered at 7:15 am. Pump was turned back on at 7:30 am
to 12.9 gpm. Leachate was very dark in color. Turned the
channel a dark black. First UV Transmittance test
conducted at 8:30 am.
Both tanks were filled with leachate prior to the flow being
(g)
reduced. The tanks were both greater than 90% full.
(9)
Flow rate was reduced to 6.7 gpm for the weekend.
Tanks were nearly dry. Only a few inches of leachate were
(10)
still in the bottom of each tank. The pump was still
pumping at 6.7 gpm. Filling of the tanks started at 7:30 am.
(11)
Flow rate was increased to 12.9 gpm.
Flow rate was increased to 18.1 gpm at 4:00 pm on
(12)
October 3, 2016. The VFD was set at 55 Hz. Pump
calibration was repeated in triplicate.
(13)
Tanks were filled with leachate at 7:30 am. 5 loads
required to fill the tanks.
(14)
UV dose checked: 29.02 mJ/cm2
(15)
Flow rate was reduced to 6.7 gpm for the weekend.
(16)
Flow rate was increased to 18.1 gpm. Tanks filled at 7:00
AM
Flow rate was increased to 20.7 gpm at 8:30 am on
(17)
October 11, 2016. The VFD was set at 60 Hz (max). Pump
calibration was repeated in triplicate.
Flow rate was reduced to 6.7 gpm. Waste Management
(18)
was not able to bring any leachate on 10/12/16. The tanks
will be filled on 10/13/16 and the flow increased to 20.7
gpm.
The City began to drain Final Clarifier No. 3. This put a lot
(19)
more solids into the clarifiers. The City backwashed filters
9 times during the day. Drop in UV Transmittance most
likely due to draining of one clarifier into the other two
